I dont use it to export anything just generate an area quantity which I simply retype into and excel cell on a rather simple spreadsheet. I've been getting by for last 10 years using the free VU360 from bluebook. Or maybe converting a google earth screenshot to a scaled. pdf plans that are conducive to on screen digitization.
I usually deal in nice simple rectangles that require no digitizing takeoff, but occasionally cross paths with some shapes on. Often less than 10 minutes from getting the plans via e-mail and sending the bid back to them. Which in my case is usually surf the internet for hours between quick bids that usually take me less than an hour to bid and get sent. which is pretty much everything I need to bid the kind of work we do. I got all setup with good old Excel 2007 and Adobe Acrobat. but hey I'm only 10 years away from retirement.Īnyway, I finally talked my cheapskate boss at the small company I work for to buy me the parts to build a new PC. So yeah, I guess I'm getting to be a dinosaur. Took it to the next level with a 48' paper digitizer that exported to excel. I blew my bosses mind when I automated their 'process' on an excel spreadsheet. Was taught to do it with pencil, paper, and an adding machine. I've been in concrete estimating over 20 years.
